Master Collective Bargaining Agreement

A union master collective bargaining agreement (MCBA) is a legally binding contract negotiated between a labor union and an employer, which outlines the terms and conditions of employment for workers represented by the union. It is a comprehensive agreement covering various employment-related issues, including wages, benefits, working hours, workplace conditions, grievance procedures, etc.

The MCBA is typically negotiated through a process known as collective bargaining, where representatives from the union and the employer engage in negotiations to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. This process involves discussions, proposals, and sometimes even mediation or arbitration if an impasse is reached.

Once an MCBA is finalized and ratified by both parties, it becomes the governing document for the employer's relationship with the union and its members. It provides a framework for ensuring workers' fairness and protection while establishing clear guidelines for employers to follow.

Membership Exclusive!
Only members are extended the privilege to participate in the union's negotiating process, which includes having a say in the union's proposal for content, voting on the union's proposals for content, and serving as a union observer for any negotiations.
